Habit: Dichondra micrantha grows as a prostrate creeping herb forming large mats. Vegetation slightly pubescent. Plants root at the nodes. The leaves are arranged alternately, reniform to orbicular to cordate, up to 15 mm long and wide (usually smaller) with a crenate/shallow notched/lobed to entire margin.
The complete, perfect, actinomorphic flowers are solitary in leaf axils. The calyx has 5 unfused, green, pubescent sepals. The corolla has 5 fused, funnelform glabrous, white to greenish yellow petals. There are 5 functional stamens fused to the base of the corolla. The superior ovary with 2 locules and 4-8 ovules. The round fruit is a tan, many seeded 2-lobed, slightly pubescent capsule.
Habitat: Dichondra micrantha grows in the Bahamas in Human Altered environments (lawns, yards, gardens).
Distribution: Dichondra micrantha is native to the Lucayan Archipelago and the Caribbean region. It has now spread globally as a weed.
Medicinal/Cultural/Economic Usage: Dichondra micrantha is not used medicinally in the Bahamian Archipelago.
