Habit: Nama jamaicensis grows as a mostly prostrate, pubescent and spiny, herbaceous, annual to biennial, growing up to 25 cm in height. The leaves are arranged alternately, obovate/spatulate, to 8 cm in length with an obtuse leaf apex and decurrent along the stem forming wings. Vegetation is a slightly silver green color and slightly succulent.\
The complete, perfect, slightly zygomorphic flowers are solitary in leaf axils. The calyx has 5 fused at the base, green, pubescent sepals. The tubular corolla has 5 fused, white petals. There are 5 stamens fused to the base of the corolla. The ovary is superior with 2 locules. The fruit is a capsule.
Habitat: Nama jamaicensis grows in Human Altered environments.
Distribution: Nama jamaicensis is native to the Lucayan Archipelago occurring throughout the islands as well as the Caribbean region, Central America and Mexico and the southern United States.
Medicinal/Cultural/Economic usage: Nama jamaicensis is not known to be used medicinally in the Bahamas.
